Affectionately referred to as the Soft Snow Capital of Northern Utah, the Ogden Valley offers  almost unlimited variety for skiing and riding at Powder Mountain, Snowbasin Resort and Wolf Creek Utah Ski Resort with The Greatest Snow on Earth™ in this uncrowded the section of the western Rocky Mountains.

Powder Mountain, or POW MOW as the locals affectionately call it, is by far the largest ski resort in North American, with over 5,500 acres of terrain. Aptly named, Powder Mountain is famous for its thigh deep powder and tree skiing. Over 3,000 acres are located in accessible backcountry terrain, whether that be by helicopter, skins, snowcat or snowmobile.  On average, 500 inches of dry light powder fall each winter and it’s all natural snow. There’s not a single snowmaking machine to be found at POW MOW yet their nightly grooming delivers perfect corduroy each morning.  This mountain is known for its powder stashes, uncrowded slopes and down-home family atmosphere.

Snowbasin, a Sun Valley Resort, is an ultra-luxe European styled resort. After more than 65 years as a local’s favorite for powder skiers, Snowbasin burst onto the world stage during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Now, you can ski the Grizzly and Wildflower Downhill courses and bank the same famous turn as Bode Miller during his awesome and memorable Silver Medal run. Snowbasin’s dramatic scenery, rugged peaks, wide-open bowls and vast terrain remind many folks of Switzerland’s world famous resorts, and three incredibly luxurious lodges with massive log timbers and imported chandeliers offer fine dining and skier services, as well as the nicest bathrooms in all of Utah... seriously!

Wolf Creek Utah Ski Resort is the local’s favorite place to learn to ski or ride. All of the terrain is accessible both day and night, including their gnarly terrain park, making it the state’s largest night skiing destination. Wolf Creek Utah Ski Resort is renowned for its learning programs and family-friendly atmosphere and offers a variety of terrain for every ability at remarkably affordable prices.

When you hang up the boards, there’s ample opportunity to snowshoe or cross country ski on over 25 km of groomed trails at North Fork Park in Liberty. Those with a passion for speed can partake of a snowmobile adventure in nearby Monte Cristo, offering up over 160 miles of groomed trails high above the valley floor.

When all that fluffy snow melts, Pineview Reservoir and the Weber and Ogden Rivers offer enough boating, water sports, kayaking and fly-fishing to suit any water enthusiast, an nearby Causey Reservoir offers a serene, non-motorized mountain lake experience and horseback riding tours.  There are miles and miles of hiking and biking trails at the ski resorts and beyond in a mountain valley that’s doesn’t even have a single stoplight.
